Evoking the phrase “both these things can be true”, Both/And is an introspective ballad that explores the pensive resignation of acknowledging contrasting emotions that are not either/or, but both/and. Bass and piano share melodic responsibilities, first in isolation and later together in unison and canon, in a melancholy duet with percussion accompaniment.
