This tune establishes the modern jazz side of Gradient’s “sliding scale”, featuring the trio members in a grooving straight-8th feel that ranges from contemplative to hard-driving. It’s the earliest composition on the record, and thus set a benchmark for many of Dietschi’s pieces to follow.
